SEBI Cautions Investors Regarding Unregistered Online Bond Platform Providers

Anshika Singh on 24 Nov 2025

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) issued a press release on November 19, 2025, cautioning all public investors about unregistered Online Bond Platform Providers (OBPPs).

The Exchange stated that certain entities, including fintech companies and stock brokers, are offering services in the nature of Online Bond Platform Providers (OBPPs) without obtaining due registration from the Stock Exchanges as mandated in the SEBI Circular dated November 14, 2022. Therefore, these entities are marked as ‘unregistered platforms’.

It also stated that the activities carried out by these unregistered online platforms may be in potential violation of the Companies Act, 2013, the SEBI Act, 1992, and the regulations framed under them. SEBI had previously issued an interim order on November 18, 2024, against certain such entities.

Additionally, it urged investors to verify the registration status of these OBPPs before making any transaction and to deal only with SEBI-registered entities.
